What Room doesn't do

Updated 17 September 2026

Most pages about an app list what it does. This one lists what Room will not do, so you know where the lines are before you connect anything.

It never replies or says yes for you.

The reply it drafts to an invitation is yours to copy and send, or not. Gmail is read-only, and nothing reaches your calendar, not an RSVP, a hold or a moved meeting, until you have seen the change and said yes.

It never moves a meeting on its own.

When you ask Room to move or cancel something, it shows the change first and waits for your confirmation. Nothing is applied without it, and each change you confirm gets a numbered receipt.

It has no employer view.

There is no manager view, no company dashboard and no team version. One account is one person, and the database itself keeps each person's rows to their own account.

It does not diagnose or score your health.

The energy read is a planning estimate drawn from your sleep, movement and calendar, shown as a word such as strong or steady, not a medical measurement. Room is not a medical product, and when it answers a question your health numbers are never given to the language model.

It never keeps full email bodies.

From Gmail, Room keeps a short task line for a bill, a renewal or an email waiting on your reply: the subject line, a short excerpt and a link back to the message. Facts drawn from your email are deleted after 21 days.

It does not sell your data, show you ads or train AI on you.

Nothing is sold, used for advertising or used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. When a model is needed, your data goes to it only to do that one task, and the provider does not keep it for its own use.

It does not track your location.

The app never asks for location permission and contains no location code. The places in your calendar events are not stored either: Room keeps a meeting's timing, a bounded title and up to eight attendee names, never its description, location, links or notes.

It does not guess when data is missing.

Without last night's sleep, Room assumes your usual night, says so on the read and marks it provisional; connect a source and the assumption becomes a reading. When it answers a question and the data isn't there, it says so instead of inventing an answer.

It does not pile on nudges.

By default you get the morning read at 07:30, or the time you choose. Once a source is connected, a morning brief and an evening wrap come only on days with something to say, and alerts come at most four a day. The evening edition and the heads-ups before a peak, a dip or wind-down stay off until you switch them on, and every kind of nudge has its own switch in Nudges.

It is not on Android, and there is no free plan.

Room is an iPhone app. Every account starts with seven days of the whole app, no card needed; after that it is £8.99 a month or £89.99 a year, and students with a .ac.uk or .edu address pay £4.99 a month. Without a subscription the app becomes read-only, and you can still see, export and delete your record.

If Room ever crosses one of these lines, or you think a line is missing, tell us at info@slowlane.ai and we'll fix it; a list like this only works if it stays honest.
